About
I teach and write on notions of adaptation, print culture, correspondence, education, identification, and the interaction between performance and prose in the "long" eighteenth-century. My current research attempts to understand constructions of (and resistance to) ending and closure during the "rise" of the novel at mid-century.
I also serve as the founder and elected President of the Samuel Richardson Society, and maintain close ties to Chawton House Library, where I was a visiting research fellow.
